Israel-Iran latest: Iran launches missiles at Israel as retaliation begins

Israel says it is ‘under fire’ from Iranian missiles

The Israeli military has said that the entire country is “under fire” as Iran launches missiles towards the country.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that it had identified missiles launched from Iran towards Israel but that defence systems were operating to intercept the threat. The public has been instructed to enter a protected space and remain there until further notice.

“The Aerial Defense Array is currently identifying and intercepting launches,” the IDF said in a statement, adding that the attack was still ongoing.

Israeli media said 100 missiles were launched from Iran into Israel, with most falling in centre of the country. They added that only one person had been injured so far and most of the missiles were intercepted.
